Deploy Policy Updates

Important: Bot Defense Advanced Self-Service Policy Management is an Early Access feature.

When you deploy a policy update with Bot Defense Advanced Self-Service Policy Management, your update takes effect immediately. F5 recommends that you deploy and thoroughly test your policies in the Test environment provided to you by F5 before you move policy updates to your production environment. F5 strongly recommends that you deploy your policy updates only during scheduled change windows to avoid unexpected downtime.

Important: Before you deploy a policy update, review all policy settings carefully to help ensure sure that you only deploy your intended changes and that no unintended changes from other users are deployed.

To deploy a policy update:

  1. In Bot Defense, click Manage > Bot Infrastructure.

  2. On the Bot Infrastructure page, in the Action column, click the Action menu (…) next to the Bot Infrastructure you want to update.

  3. Click Deploy Policy Versions to deploy your policies.

  4. For each policy type, select the Policy Name and Deployment Version that you want to deploy.

    Note: If you do not change the version for a specific policy type, then no changes are deployed for that policy type.

  5. Select the checkbox to acknowledge that you understand that Bot Defense deploys policy changes immediately.

    Important: Deploy policy updates only during scheduled change windows to avoid unexpected downtime. It is critical that you verify that your policy is working as expected in your Test infrastructure before you deploy it in your production infrastructure. Check your traffic for false positives and false negatives before you move the policy to production.

  6. Click Deploy. Then click Show Bot Infrastructure Status to view the deployment status for the Bot Infrastructure you updated.

Next Steps

After your policy is deployed, test your new policy settings to make sure the system behaves as you intended.
